Docking at Wemeldinge Docking at Wemeldinge
- Wemeldinge (marina)
- Mooring in sunny weather
- One of the most beautiful villages
- Marine life and dive sites
Sailing across the Oosterschelde by boat and heading towards Wemeldinge: the perfect day out where you experience the best of both worlds. As you approach the harbour, you'll see masts gently tapping against each other and hear the sound of ropes scraping along the jetty. Seagulls soar above the water, and the village comes into view as you walk along the quay. It's no wonder Wemeldinge has been named one of the 50 most beautiful villages in the Netherlands. Here, docking feels like arriving home.
Slowly you sail towards the marina to dock. You step from the deck onto the shore and walk into the village. Narrow streets, characteristic houses and terraces where glasses glint in the sun. The salty air from the water lingers around you. Take a seat for a delicious lunch or a cup of coffee. In the harbour, sailboats gently bob against each other, while further away, children play on the small beach and divers prepare to disappear beneath the surface of the Oosterschelde.
On a summer's day, everything comes together. The water glitters brightly in the light, terraces fill up, and the village buzzes with life. You see watersports enthusiasts go by, hear soft voices from the quay, and feel the warmth of the sun on your skin.
When you take a trip around the Oosterschelde, you'll pass by the water and notable spots like the Zeelandbrug. Sail past Kats and Wilhelminadorp to eventually reach the picturesque Wemeldinge. The marina offers an accessible mooring, and the village is just a few minutes' walk away. A short break can easily turn into a longer stopover.
As you cast off the boat again and leave the harbour behind, you look back one last time. The silhouettes of the village, the row of masts against the sky, and the water lapping gently against the quay. Wemeldinge is the kind of place that interrupts your journey in the best possible way. Step ashore for a while, head into the village, and then carry on.
