The development of debevelanden.nl has been made possible by a contribution from Interreg Flanders-Netherlands through the project Liveable Scheldt.
Working together towards a liveable Scheldt region Working together towards a liveable Scheldt region
(Be)leefbare Schelde is a cross-border cooperation project between partners in the Netherlands and Flanders. The project aims to strengthen the tourist appeal of the Scheldt region, stretching from Zeeland and West Brabant to East and West Flanders and Antwerp.
Through innovative storylines, immersive routes, physical and digital “gateways,” and collaboration between governments, heritage institutions, and recreational partners, the region is positioned as a cohesive area. Themes such as water, landscape, climate, culture, and history are central to this.
De Bevelanden as part of the bigger story
The five Beveland municipalities: Kapelle, Noord-Beveland, Zuid-Beveland, Borsele, Goes, and Reimerswaal form an essential part of the Scheldt Delta. The landscape has been shaped by centuries of interaction between humans and water: from reclamations and dikes to harbours, fruit cultivation, and drowned villages.
With debevelanden.nl we bring this story together on one regional platform. The portal connects visitors, entrepreneurs and residents, making the offerings in the areas of nature, culture, recreation, events and accommodation clear and accessible.
Contribution to sustainable tourism development
Thanks to the support from (Be)leefbare Schelde, we can:
- To strengthen the tourist visibility of the Bevelanden
- to better tap into and connect the regional supply
- contributing to sustainable visitor dispersal within the Scheldt region
With this collaboration, we are helping to build a strong, future-proof, and liveable Scheldt region.
