Begin your journey of discovery in Kats, Noord-Beveland’s artists’ village. There’s a friendly atmosphere here, where art and village life blend seamlessly. Kats is home to a wealth of art studios and galleries, where you can admire the work of local artists up close. Art is also regularly on display at the Zeeuwse Oase, set amidst lush, inspiring surroundings.
Further along the island, you'll pass artworks, each telling its own story. In Kortgene, you'll see the Kortgene Comma, where the oldest piece of stone in the Netherlands is located. In Kamperland stands the Dike Workers, a powerful artwork commemorating work on the dikes. And in Colijnsplaat, you can admire the Nehalennia Temple, along with the artworks Houen Jongens and Johannis de Rijke, both of which refer to the history and life by the water.
If you really want to experience Noord-Beveland, the best way to explore the island is during Kunstspoor. During this annual art event, studios and galleries open their doors and you can discover paintings, sculptures, jewellery and other forms of art at various locations. The route takes you past villages, dykes and surprising meeting places, where artists are happy to talk about their work.
