- Goes / Hoedekenskerke
- Especially special in spring and summer
- Nostalgic family outing
Looking for an outing that brings together adventure and heritage? Step aboard the Steam Train Goes-Borsele and discover the Bevelanden in a way you won't experience anywhere else. As soon as the locomotive hisses and a cloud of steam blows into the sky, an ordinary day turns into a mini-time travel. The whistle sounds sharply across the platform, wheels creak into motion, and slowly the station slides away behind you.
During the journey, the landscape unfolds at a leisurely pace. Fields offer a wide view, orchards and dikes alternate, and villages such as Nisse, Hoedekenskerke and Borsele pass by. You feel the gentle rocking of the carriages, hear the rhythmic ‘chug-chug’ of the wheels on the rails, and smell the characteristic scent of steam and lubricating oil. Children look curiously out of the window, wave to people along the track and count cows in the meadows along the way. Old station buildings, signal posts and railway barriers are reminders of how travel used to feel.
During spring and summer, a ride on the steam train is particularly special. The greenery along the tracks is fresh and abundant, flowers colour the verges, and with the window open, you can feel the wind on your face. On warm days, the airflow provides coolness while the train chugs gently through the landscape. In December, the experience takes on a different character during the Winter Express, where the ride ends in Winter Wonderland.
