The Oosterschelde is the Oosterschelde National Park, the largest and wettest national park in the Netherlands, a landscape that is constantly changing under the influence of wind, water and the tides. This is where your journey of discovery really begins. You look out over a living landscape that constantly changes shape with the ebb and flow of the tide. At low tide, birds appear on the mudflats; at high tide, a large part of the area disappears beneath a glistening layer of water.<\/p>\n<p>A special addition is the tidal nature entrance at Kamperland, near sluice Anna Friso. This entrance is designed as an experience area where the tide is central. Not just as a viewpoint, but as a place where information and landscape come together. From Colijnsplaat, you can join a seal spotting trip and, with a bit of luck, you'll see not only seals but also porpoises. Those who look closely from the shore also have a chance to spot these animals themselves. This makes a trip on or along the Oosterschelde special every time.<\/p>\n<p>The best time to visit these nature reserves is at low tide or just as the tide is coming in, when the landscape visibly changes. In the early morning, mist often hangs over the mudflats, and in the evening everything takes on a peaceful, warm glow.
