Excursion Drowned Nieuwelande Excursion Drowned Nieuwelande
Discover the last visible traces of the drowned village of Nieuwlande during a special excursion with an archaeologist from Erfgoed Zeeland. At low tide you walk onto the mud flats and see up close the remains of the village that disappeared into the waves during the St Felix's Flood of 1530.
During Open Monument Day, you visit a part of the Oosterschelde that is normally not accessible to the public. Along the way, you will hear more about the history of Nieuwlande and the Schelde Delta. Gathering is between 09:30 and 09:45. Advance registration is compulsory and there is space for a maximum of 50 participants.
