1. The SGB's Railway History
Our journey begins at the site of the Goes-Borsele Steam Train (SGB). Here, you can soak up the atmosphere of days gone by at the historic goods shed, dating from 1872, and the authentic weighbridge house. Discover how the construction of tram lines in Zuid-Beveland at the start of the 20th century brought the region out of its isolation. In the imposing traction shed, you’ll find yourself face to face with roaring steam locomotives and learn all about the transport of sugar beet and coal that made this region great.

2. The Power and Culture of Goes
Our vintage bus then heads for the heart of Goes for a visit to the ‘Met Man & Macht’ exhibition hall. Admire the enormous militia paintings – the ‘Night Watches’ of Goes – and discover how the city’s militia once defended the city with walls, gates and drawbridges. Alongside this rugged military history, we’ll delve into the temporary exhibition on youth culture, where you’ll see how fashion and music have shaped young people’s identity over the decades.

3. From the Orchard to the Auction Clock
The final stage takes us to Kapelle, the realm of fruit growing. At the ZeeuwsFruitMuseum, you’ll discover how fruit from the orchard made its way to the consumer. Take a journey through time, from dog-drawn carts and cargo bikes to rail transport. The highlight is the authentic old auction: take a seat on the original benches and experience the excitement of the trade by pressing the buttons on the working auction clock yourself.
